This Simple Future of the Caravan Table

The innovation and redesign of something as simple as a caravan table is not something as British think long and hard about. The Australians on the other hand seem to come up with a good many different methods or ideas of what to do with the small confined space created inside a caravan when the table is in the up position.

A product known as the ‘ADJUSTA’ has been developed in Australia that attaches to the bottom of your existing caravan table. This item is simply a central leg that attaches to the underside of the table but the technology of this table leg that allows tabletops to move the way they do. But before we talk about how this has evolved we should try to understand the problem. Many caravan enthusiasts enjoy the great outdoors but on many occasions the weather just beats us and then we have to spend our time indoors. As much as we convince ourselves that our caravan is big enough on these wet days the small areas only get smaller. A common problem seen in just about every caravan is the access to the caravan table and the storage spaces the take-up. The ‘ADJUSTA’ is just one of the many solutions that have been developed over the years to try and alleviate this lack of space. I’m not going to go into how the product is made or what exactly it does as I’m not sure it is actually available to the UK market yet, but just search for adjusta in your browser for more information on the product.

Another product that has been aimed at the caravan market is something called the ‘Sit Easy’. Now after having looked at this product on the Internet I can only assume that this has been a failed project for the retail market and someone has suggested this may be better aimed at the caravan market. I am not suggesting this product is totally useless but it may just not be for a caravan, I can think of other easy and cheaper methods to supply myself with a table. Maybe this ‘Sit Easy’ would be more suitable for a campervan or any other RV type vehicles where owning a table would be something you wouldn’t consider due to the lack of space.

I did start this post by saying that us British don't really think about the redesign of something as simple as a caravan table. That is a rather harsh conclusion when you consider these two products above. Maybe I should say that when it comes to something as simple as designing or redesigning a caravan table the British don't seem to consider this a viable market. I have come across many different and wonderful adaptations to the caravan table but none of them have I ever seen being sold on the Internet or in the shops for that matter. When it comes to caravans and the accessories used on a daily basis we just get on with what we have, adapt what we can and continue on with our day. A caravan table is something i spend most weekends using but if I ever need to change it I’ll probably modify it to MY own needs and not what I think others will need.
